We had the opportunity to contribute to a South Carolina Port milestone 20 years in the making – the Hugh Leatherman Terminal. Commanding a scenic view of the Cooper River in North Charleston, this terminal serves some of the largest ships on the East Coast.

This expansion is a testament to Charleston’s enduring success as a port city. Appointed by SC Ports, Samet undertook the vertical construction of 17 diverse buildings and canopies. Spread across a sprawling 286-acre site, we added an impressive 103,000 square feet to the terminal.

The Leatherman Terminal doesn’t just enhance SC Ports’ capacity to handle the inflow of rising cargo volumes; it also accommodates the largest vessels calling the East Coast. This strategic enhancement secures South Carolina’s global competitiveness for the exciting decades ahead.

I can honestly say in my nearly 40 years of experience, I have never seen such professionalism, teamwork, innovation, and collaboration exhibited on a construction project….Samet’s efforts resulted in the on-time delivery of all the buildings, canopies, booths, and associated work, and provided for cost efficient solutions that enabled the SCPA to complete the entire project on budget.
