- The Greensboro Science Center now has a combined experience that includes an aquarium, museum and zoo. The 5,300 SF expansion to the Greensboro Science Center’s Wiseman Aquarium was completed by Samet. The project entailed a single story, steel-framed building with an architectural aluminum rain screen veneer, pulling the existing building’s metal panels seamlessly through to the new addition. There are new spaces plus seventeen new tanks of various sizes, which are separated into a grand entry area with free-standing cylindrical tanks, two separate pods with stand-alone tanks and interactive wall images.
- The expansion features its own chiller system and dedicated outdoor air unit, manifolded into the building’s chiller plant. The tank safety equipment, pumps, heat exchangers and chillers each have dedicated generator back-up power.
