The Greensboro Science Center has evolved into a comprehensive experience, encompassing an aquarium, museum, and zoo. Samet was instrumental in executing the 5,300 square foot expansion of the center’s Wiseman Aquarium.

This project involved the construction of a single-story, steel-framed building, adorned with an architectural aluminum rain screen veneer that seamlessly integrates with the existing building’s metal panels. The new addition includes various spaces and seventeen new tanks of differing sizes. These are divided into a grand entry area featuring free-standing cylindrical tanks and two separate pods equipped with standalone tanks and interactive wall images.

The expanded section is equipped with its own chiller system and a dedicated outdoor air unit that is manifolded into the building’s chiller plant. Each piece of tank safety equipment, including pumps, heat exchangers, and chillers, is backed up by a dedicated generator.
