Minor League Baseball Park

The City of Winston-Salem wanted to provide summertime’s classic entertainment to its residents and the outlying region: baseball. Before this minor league ballpark ever got out of the ground, Samet was brought on board to oversee the demolition of 40 structures at the western entrance of downtown to make room for this 50,000SF park. Located in an ideal spot along Business 40/421 through town, drivers on the highway and passersby can see the activity of the new home team, the Dash. The park, designed to NAPBL Standards, hosts 70 Class A minor league games and seats over 6,000 fans. It houses 16 private suites, including two that are available for private events. Additional amenities include a carousel, 5 concession stands, a bar and full kitchen restaurant, and over 100 toilets and urinals. With this ballpark in place, Winston-Salem can now root, root, root for the home team! This project was named “Best Sports/Recreation Project” the year it opened in 2010 by Southeast Construction Magazine, and received the 2011 Brick in Architecture Bronze Award from the Brick Industry Association.
