History & Direction
Founded by Norman Samet in 1961, Samet Corporation quickly became known for its high ethical standards
and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction. Today, these principles continue to guide the company and
are an important reason why Samet has grown steadily and now operates throughout the Southeast.
During the 1970s, Samet began to partner with a few select clients in the financing and ownership
of their construction projects. By expanding its role from contractor to investor/owner, Samet's
management began to "think like an owner." Today, this perspective sets Samet apart from other
general contractors, and is apparent in the project team's focus on the owner's objectives and
financial goals. In addition, Samet applies its experience as an owner in the planning and
financing phase to develop creative approaches that enable clients to make their vision a reality.
Through the '80s and '90s Samet continued to grow across the Piedmont Triad region of North
Carolina, expanding beyond industrial buildings to serve clients in the office, medical, and
retail/showroom segments. Over the years, much of Samet's revenue growth has been through loyal
clients who have awarded Samet repeat business for two, three, or more additional buildings.
For example, Mannington, has selected Samet for five separate building phases totaling over 540,000 square feet.
